Nice, the pearl of the French Riviera.
Nice is the ideal destination for a weekend spent relaxing, eating good food, and just enjoying some time outdoors. And (why not?) getting a dose of quality art too.
The capital of the Côte d'Azur is known for its famous Promenade des Anglais, the street extending along the Mediterranean where people come for a stroll, to rollerblade, spend a day at the beach or just admire the incredible view of the sea.
But La Prom, as it’s called by locals, is so much more than that. It’s the quintessential symbol of belle epoque Nice, a place where hotels, villas, shops and boutiques still convey the elegant, chic spirit of the French Riviera.
A bit further inland is Vieille Ville, the charming old town. Its narrow, winding alleys, colourful houses, countless characteristic shops, delicious restaurants and the picturesque market in Cours Saleya make it a must-visit destination to experience the true heart of the city. The quarter is also notable for its Baroque architectural gems, from the Church of the Gesù to the sumptuous Cathedral of Sainte Réparate.
Art lovers won’t be disappointed by this fabulous city. While the options abound, we particularly recommend a trip to the Matisse Museum in the Ville des Arènes, and to the Marc Chagall National Museum, both in the residential quarter of Cimiez.
